After a week, the whole family began to feel itchy and lesions appeared on the skin, and the lesions became more and more widespread.

Worried about her child’s condition, Mrs. A.’s whole family decided to go see a doctor.

According to Dr. II Nguyen Tien Thanh, a member of the Vietnam Dermatology Association, at the time of examination, the patients had scattered lesions on their arms, legs, and thighs, with uncomfortable itchy spots.

“The skin lesions of all three people are typical of dermatophytosis (skin disease caused by filamentous fungi – Dermatophytosis). This is a very common disease in hot and humid climates like our country,” said Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Hung.

Results of examination of fresh fungi on the lesion showed the presence of septated fungal hyphae.

Fungal skin disease: If not controlled, the disease can spread

Fungal skin disease is not a life-threatening disease, but it causes a lot of trouble.

“If not intervened immediately, the disease can spread to many areas of the body, itching and scratching can lead to eczema or superinfection. This not only affects aesthetics but also reduces quality of life.” of the patient,” the doctor added.

Ms. A.’s family’s case was treated with topical and oral antifungal drugs according to the regimen (if the response is poor, laser or light therapy can be used).

According to this expert, patients with fungal infections often feel itchy and uncomfortable.

You should choose gentle bath products that help clean your skin without causing dryness or irritation.

Ringworm can spread quickly, so avoid picking or scratching the infected area.

If you have a dog or cat, you should periodically check, deworm, and especially take your pet to the veterinarian when you see signs of skin disease to avoid infection to humans.
